The short version: The Modality runs entirely on your device. We have no accounts, no servers of our own, no analytics, and no tracking. Your progress and settings never leave your phone. We can't see them, and neither can anyone else.
The Modality saves a small amount of information locally on your device so the app works the way you'd expect:
This data is stored only on your device using your phone's standard local storage. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party. If you delete the app, it's gone. You can also clear it anytime in the app's settings ("Reset everything").
Some lessons include embedded music videos to illustrate a mode or makam. These are served by YouTube, and when a video loads, YouTube may receive standard request information (such as your IP address) and apply its own policies. We don't control this. You can read YouTube's privacy policy for details. No other third-party services are used.
The Modality is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
